CENTRE RAWDON: A 29-year-old Moncton man has been charged with impaired driving after a motor vehicle collision in Centre Rawdon on New Years Day.

East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said RCMP were notified by 911 that a van had crashed into a ditch near a residence in the community.

“The driver was attended to by local residents and appeared to be impaired,” said S/Sgt. Bushell. “They took his keys and instructed him to stay put while awaiting police arrival. “

The investigation revealed the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was indeed under the influence at the time of the incident.

He was charged with impaired driving and will be facing court at a later date, said S/Sgt. Bushell.
