FLETCHERS LAKE: An overnight fire at a residence in Fletchers Lake sent sirens sounding in the early morning air as crews responded.

At 1:12 a.m. on Aug. 14, firefighters from six HRM Fire and area stations were paged to a house fire at 3687 Hwy 2 in Fletchers Lake. The home is one of several listed as an Air BNB home in the area.

Nick Yeomans, volunteer fire chief with Station 45 in Fall River, spoke about the early morning call.

“There were flames and smoke upon our arrival resulting in an offensive attack by our firefighters,” said Yeomans. “It was a quick response and a quick knockdown.”

Approximately 30 firefighters from Station 45 Fall River; Station 43 Grand Lake; Station 18 Westphal; Station 41 Waverley; Enfield Fire; and Station 42 Wellington responded, along with EHS.

Yeomans said fire crews have determined the fire was accidental.

The last fire crews cleared the scene at 4:16 a.m.
