RCMP seize firearm during search in Lower Sackville

LOWER SACKVILLE: A 31-year-old Lower Sackville is facing charges related to firearms offences after a search warrant was executed on the home he lived.

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division Guns and Gangs Unit, with assistance from the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), seized a firearm after executing a search warrant at a home on Maple Grove Ave. in Lower Sackville.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on January 6, police assisted by ERT, executed a search warrant a home on Maple Grove Ave. in Lower Sackville. Several people were arrested without further incident. Police searched the home and located a rifle with a pistol grip.

A 31-year-old Lower Sackville man was later released on conditions and will be facing charges of:

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Possession of a Firearm while Knowing Possession Unauthorized

Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device

Possession of a Prohibited Device while Knowing Possession Unauthorized

Unsafe Storage of a Firearm

Storage of a Firearm Contrary to Regulations and

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

He will appear in court at a later date.

The remaining people who were arrested were all released without charge.

The investigation is ongoing and continues to be led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division Guns and Gangs Unit.
