WINDSOR JUNCTION: Suspects are being sought after a brazen break-and-enter into a Windsor Junction home while the homeowners were home, although they were unaware the home had been broken into.

The incident took place between 11 p.m. on July 21 and 5:30 a.m. on July 22 on Capilano Drive, says Halifax District RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Lisa Croteau.

The suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in the driveway and opened the garage door with the garage door opener. The suspect(s) then entered the attached garage and went into the main area of the house.

“Several items were stolen from the residence including the garage door opener,” said Cpl. Croteau. “The homeowners were home when this occurred, but did not notice their home had been broken into until they woke up and subsequently called the police.”

Police are reminding property owners to lock their homes, garages and vehicles, especially overnight.

“Property owners can take extra steps to deter thieves such as installing outdoor lights, motion sensors or trail cameras,” said Cpl. Croteau.
