LOWER SACKVILLE: A new business in the community is inviting residents to kick off Halloween in a fun and active way.
Top Rank Martial Arts, located inside at Studio B in the Sackville Sports Stadium, will host a public Halloween event on Oct. 30, featuring food, prizes, and a chance to try Taekwondo for free. It will run from 6-8 p.m.
“We’ll have pizza and water for sale for $3, free Halloween treats for the kids, and lots of prizes,” said Tim Reynolds, the owner and instructor.
“Some of the plates will even have special stickers underneath for surprise giveaways — things like a T-shirt, a hoodie, or even a one-month membership.”
The event will include an open-to-the-public Taekwondo class where participants are encouraged to come in costume.
“It’s Halloween — so if you want to take a class in costume, go for it,” Reynolds said with a laugh.
The Halloween night also serves as an introduction to the new martial arts school, which officially opened on Sept. 16.
“This is a way to meet the community, show what we do, and welcome anyone who wants to learn more,” he said.
Top Rank’s philosophy is built around inclusivity and confidence-building.
“There are no limitations — medically or mentally — that stop anyone from training with us,” Reynolds said. “Everyone is welcome here.”
The evening promises fun for all ages, with spooky surprises and a friendly atmosphere.
“People should come, get their scare on, and enjoy some Taekwondo,” the instructor said.
“As long as they don’t scare me too much — we’re all good.”
