ENFIELD: The RCMP in East Hants attended to 113 calls for service between Dec. 9 and Dec. 15.

Here is a look at some of the highlighted calls, as summarized by S/Sgt. Cory Bushell.

On Dec. 10, RCMP responded to a complaint in the Mount Uniacke area of a business and patrons not abiding by COVID rules under the Health Protection Act. 

Warnings were issued in this incident.

The public is reminded charges can and may be laid by police in instances where individuals or business choose to put others at risk by not abiding by the Health Protection Act.

Police investigated two separate break-and-enters in the Nine Mile River and Mill Village areas on Dec. 12. The investigations are continuing.

On Dec. 13, RCMP officers were called to assist three local men who decided to take their small sedan off-road driving near Gore and became stuck and stranded. 

Local fire crews assisted and were able to retrieve the males with a 4X4 vehicle.

Officers were called out to a report of a suspicious vehicles in the parking lot of the Milford Foodland on Dec. 15. The caller reported the interior of the vehicles looked quite “smoky.” 

After arrival and investigation, members charged a 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from the Municipality of East Hants, under the Cannabis Act. 

Over the past week, several complaints were received regarding unlawful and unsafe operation, disrespectful behaviour, or damage caused by Off Highway Vehicles. 

East Hants RCMP supports responsible and lawful OHV operation and OHV clubs which hold their members to that standard.

Unfortunately, the few are ruining a respectable recreational activity for the many.
