ENFIELD: Over the holidays (the past two weeks) officers with East Hants RCMP responded to 136 calls for service.
Here are a few of the highlighted calls as reported by East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell in his report.
A Christmas Angel descended once again on East Hants this year. Mid December, a benevolent citizen, who wishes to remain anonymous, approached the East Hants RCMP with a stack of gift cards.
The ask: Spread cheer throughout the county and brighten the day of those you come in contact with.
Happy to oblige, officers dutifully handed out the generous gifts at checkpoints, during random community interactions, and upon observance of those who go above and beyond to make East Hants a better place to live. In total, police handed out $1800 in $50 gift cards.
The reception was predictably wonderful, and in some cases, the recipient was overwhelmed with emotion by the thoughtfulness of the donor’s gesture.

On December 30, East Hants RCMP were called to the Nine Mile River area for the theft of a yellow 2013 Can Am Outlander ATV from Fraser Road.
The victim was travelling on a nearby trail and upon entering the road, the ATV broke down.
The owner left to get assistance and upon return a short while later, the ATV was gone.
Based on the nature of the break-down, it is believed someone must have used a trailer or had sufficient help to load the heavy ATV into the back of a pick-up.
Police are looking to speak to anyone with information on this matter. People can call East Hnats RCMP at 902-883-7077 or Crime Stoppers.
