Assault at Lower Sackville bus terminal leads to arrests of two youths

LOWER SACKVILLE: Two youths were arrested following the assault of a Halifax Transit bus driver at the Lower Sackville bus terminal in the early morning hours of Aug. 27.

RCMP said that at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Cobequid bus terminal in Lower Sackville.

They learned that a group of youths were attempting to fight with a bus driver, throwing rocks at a bus, and blocking the bus from leaving the terminal.

The bus driver did not report injuries.

ADVERTISEMENT:

There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

Investigators located the group of youths as they left the area on foot.

Two youths were arrested for assault. They were later released and are scheduled to appear at Halifax Provincial Youth Court at a later date.

A third youth was banned from attending Halifax Transit terminals by way of the Protection of Property Act.
