Beaver Bank mobile home fire deemed suspicious by police

    BEAVER BANK: A mobile home fire in Beaver Bank has been deemed suspicious by Halifax District RCMP and fire investigators.

    The fire occurred at 406 Glen Rise Drive in the Woodbine Mobile Home Park in Beaver Bank. No one was home at the time.

    Fire crews from Beaver Bank; Sackville; Fall River; and Wellington responded to the call as it was in an area that was not hydrated.

    Halifax District RCMP and EHS also attended.

    In the fire investigation report, investigators could not determine the ignition source.

    “The area of origin was determined to be a kitchen, bedroom, and laundry area,” the report posted on HRM Fire’s website said. “There were no operating smoke alarms.

    “The cause of this fire is classified as incendiary.”

    In a release on Feb. 7, Halifax District RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Lisa Croteau said that at approximately 12 p.m. on Jan. 29, police received a call of smoke coming from the residence.

    “The fire was extinguished quickly and significant damage was done to the building,” said Cpl. Croteau. “The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature.”

    The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Halifax District RCMP with assistance from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal.
