DEBERT: A 26-year-old man from Debert is facing charges of attempted murder following an altercation outside a residence on Sunday afternoon.

Police in Colchester County say that at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation between two men outside of a home on Clinton Dr. in Debert.

When RCMP officers arrived, they found one man with life-threatening injuries. The other had fled prior to police arrival.

The victim was transported to hospital by EHS.

On September 8 at approximately 1 a.m., officers safely arrested Bradley Metlin, 26, of Debert, at a residence on Passchendaele Ave. in Debert.

Metlin is charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault.

He is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on September 9.

Investigators do not believe this was a random incident; the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Officers have executed search warrants at a residence in Debert as part of the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and is being led by Colchester County District Community Action Tea.

Support for the investigation is being provided by general duty officers, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, the Northwest Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, and RCMP Digital Forensic Services (DFS).
