ENFIELD: A 28-year-old Enfield man has been charged after an armed robbery at the Enfield Irving Big Stop on Oct. 12.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment say that at 4:40 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a business in the 6700 block of Hwy. 2 in Enfield.

“Officers learned a man with mace robbed the store of a quantity of cigarettes and cash before fleeing on foot,” a spokesperson said.

RCMP officers used a remote piloted aircraft system and later located and arrested 28-year-old Daniel Albert Gibson of Enfield.

“Upon arrest, he took off on foot and a conducted energy weapon was deployed,” the spokesperson added.

A source has told The Laker News the armed robbery occurred at the Enfield Irving Big Stop.

Gibson was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment and later released into police custody.

He’s been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Obstruction
  • Resist Arrest
  • Breach of Probation
  • Fail to Comply with a Release Order

Gibson is due to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on October 14. 

The investigation, supported by RCMP Police Dog Services, is ongoing.
