ENFIELD: Four local food banks reaped the rewards of a successful Trivia Night fundraiser, hosted by the East Hants 7 Districts Chamber of Commerce.

The annual trivia night fundraiser was held Feb. 21 at Shooters Sports Bar & Grill in Enfield. It raised $10,000 during the sixth annual event.

The event is held in memory of long-time community volunteer in East Hants, Susie McDonell. She was also a supporter of the Chamber.

The idea behind holding a trivia night fundraiser for food banks in East Hants was initially McDonell’s. The Chamber has been proud to hold the event in the honour of her fun-loving, giving spirit.

Recently, Chamber past chairperson Glynn Irving, Karen Duncan, and Linda Wood (new Chamber chairperson), presented cheques to the four food banks. Each food bank received $2,500.

The food banks that cheques were presented to were: Indian Brook Food Pantry; Hants North Food Bank; Caring & Sharing Angel Tree Food Bank; and Shumilacke Food Bank serving Milford, Stewiacke, and Shubenacadie.
