ENFIELD: East Hants RCMP responded to 100 calls for service throughout the municipality between Dec. 7 to Dec. 13.

Here are a few of the highlighted calls as submitted by East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell for the week.

Police said one suspect thought it was “chili-time” on Dec. 7. Officers responded to a complaint of theft from a local grocery store.

The culprit was seen on camera taking mushrooms, hot-sauce, and bell peppers.

The manager will be dealing with the individual by way of a peace bond but wanted to police to be aware.

On December 8, East Hants RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter at a residence in the Centre Rawdon area.

The incident occurred sometime during the day.

Local residents are asked to report any suspicious behaviour in the Centre Rawdon area on this date to East Hants RCMP at 902-883-7077 or Crime Stoppers.

The matter remains under investigation.

RCMP were alerted to a man who was allegedly drinking alcohol while behind the wheel of a parked vehicle in the Elmsdale area on Dec. 10.

Officers made an immediate patrol and located the vehicle. The driver, a 57-year-old man, was found by police behind the wheel.

S/Sgt. Bushell said a roadside test was conducted but did not substantiate impairment.

The driver, however, was on strict conditions from prior cases not to occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle or be in public after consuming alcohol.

He said the man was arrested, processed, given a ticket for driving while suspended, and will face the courts at a later date for charges related to breaching his conditions.
