ENFIELD: East Hants RCMP responded to 66 calls between Nov. 17 and Nov. 25.

Here are just a couple of the highlighted calls (to go along with the three we did separate stories on) as provided by East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell.

On Nov. 17, officers were advised of a collision on Highway 1 in Lakelands. The complainant stated a deer came into the road and struck her vehicle.

No occupants of the vehicle were injured, and the deer walked into the woods.

The caller was able to safely drive the car home and no tow was needed.

Upon arrival home, the driver assessed the damage and called the police to report.

Did you know, in Nova Scotia you are only required to report a motor vehicle crash or collision if there is injury (including death) or damage to the vehicle(s) or other property is in excess of $2000?

Also, unless the scene is unsafe, other traffic is being obstructed or someone involved in the incident requires police assistance, police attendance is not usually required. To be clear: if any danger exists, or if the motoring public will be obstructed in any way as a result of an incident, police must be called to assist.

In times like that, Police, Fire Fighters and EHS Personnel rapidly partner to attend to those involved, protect the public, investigate if necessary, and get the roads open as soon as reasonably possible.

On Nov. 16, East Hants RCMP received a complaint of the theft of a porta potty from Centre Rawdon.

The theft occurred sometime between November 2 and November 9.

The porta potty is orange with a yellow roof and has a yellow sticker on the outside with the number 8-0093. The porta potty has a value of between $1600 and $1700. Such an item would be easy to see and identify.

Police are asking anyone who has information about this theft or has an awareness of a porta potty matching this description coming into the possession of a member of the general public in recent days or weeks, to call and report to East Hants RCMP at 902-883-7077 or Crime Stoppers.
