ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: A mandatory evacuation has been expanded in Annapolis County as the Long Lake wildfires continue to grow due to the extreme fire conditions.

The Department of Natural Resources said On X (formerly Twitter) that the wildfires complex is still out of control and likely to grow beyond current estimated 3,255 hectares with extreme fire conditions today.

“All efforts are being made to save homes,” the note on X said.

The mandatory evacuation is for Hwy 10 and all streets around Trout, Zwicker and East Lakes, New Albany; Old Liverpool Rd, Che-Boag-A-Nish Rd and all West Dalhousie Rd in Albany Cross.

It also includes West Dalhousie, Annapolis Co. Morse Rd – Thorne Rd.

Expanded area from civic #571 to 1073 Morse Rd and civic #’s 4272 and 4291 on Thorne Rd.

Avoid the area if not affected.

Same air and ground crews continue to focus on West Dalhousie area while heavy machinery works on flanks.

DNR said that the wind is pushing fire toward West Dalhousie area, air and ground resources focusing efforts there.

Aircraft include six helicopters, six planes plus bird dogs.

Firefighters include 56 DNR, 62 Ontario and 54 local volunteer firefighters.

Heavy machinery still working on flanks.
