May 4 court date for Wellington man charged with impaired driving

WELLINGTON: The Wellington man charged with impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision near Station 42 on Feb. 14 will be back in court May 4.

Chance Benvie is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court for election and plea on May 4 on the charges stemming from the accident, that had several close calls.

At the time, Cpl. Lisa Croteau, with Halifax District RCMP, said police responded to a possible impaired driver at 8:40 p.m. on Valentine’s Night. She said police were told an SUV went off the road in the 4000 block on Hwy. 2.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, showed signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene. ‘

 In addition to those impaired driving charges, Benvie is also facing charges of mischief and breach of probation. He is due is court for election and plea on those charges on May 10.
