Police charge man with assaulting police officer, impaired driving

HALIFAX: On July 31 at approximately 8:50 p.m., police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Portland Street and Prince Arthur Avenue in Dartmouth.

An officer located the vehicle stopped at an address on Marvin Street.

As the officer attempted to arrest the driver, the driver resisted and fled on foot. 

On August 4, the suspect turned himself into police and was arrested without incident.

A 46-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

-Assault a peace officer

-Impaired operation of a conveyance

-Resist arrest

-Obstruction
