GOFFS: A recently retired doctor from the Elmsdale Medical Centre has been identified online by friends as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Thursday night.

Halifax District RCMP say that officers responded to a 911 call of a single-vehicle collision shortly after 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of Old Guysburough Road in Goffs.

Cpl. Lisa Croteau, media spokeswoman with Halifax District RCMP, said the motorcycle was traveling eastbound and left the roadway. The police release did not identify the victim.

The driver was identified by friends who knew him as Dr. Bruce Montgomery, 63, of Enfield. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cpl. Croteau said Old Guysborough Rd. was closed for several hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said Cpl. Croteau.
