LANTZ: The Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals continued their perfect start to the Northern Nova Scotia Girls High School Hockey League season Tuesday afternoon, shutting out the host Hants East Rural High Tigers 4-0 at Ice Pad B at the East Hants Sportsplex.

While the final score showed a comfortable Royals victory, the game was much closer through the opening two periods, thanks in large part to some outstanding goaltending by Tigers netminder Amber Al-Molky.

The Royals generated several offensive opportunities but found Al-Molky standing tall between the pipes.

Goalscorers for the Royals were Jenna Cleary, Flora Murphy, Mae Leuschner, and Ruby Brophy.

Abby Reid recorded the shutout in goal.

Hants East was scheduled to return to the ice Wednesday against CEC, but according to the league website, that game was recorded as a forfeit.

The Laker News’ Pat Healey was on hand for Tuesday’s contest and captured several game-action photos.
