SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD: The grassroots racing scene at Scotia Speedworld’s takes center stage this Friday, August 29, when the Thunder on the Hill brings a high-stakes night for the TRACTION Mini Stock division.
The program features 10-lap heat races, a B Features, and a 75-lap main event with 25 cars earning a place on the grid.
With strong weekly participation already this season, a sizeable turnout is anticipated — and qualifying is expected to be tight.
At stake is a purse nearing $7,000, highlighted by $1,800 to win.
Around the pits, some are already calling it perhaps the biggest-paying Mini Stock night in Atlantic Canadian short-track history, a claim that adds another layer of intrigue to an already competitive field of 30+ cars pre-registered.

Early storylines point to a blend of decorated champions and veteran contenders.
Multi-time champion and current points leader Ross Moore heads the conversation, with fellow multi-time champion Dave Matthews expected to figure prominently.
Jesse Deveau, a former Sportsman and Mini Stock champion, adds proven big-race pedigree, while long-time competitors and race supporters Chevy MacDonald and David Hibbs bring experience and familiarity with the tricky Halifax area oval.
With only 25 spots available for the feature, the intensity will begin with the first green flag in qualifying.

Racing and the famous kiddies rides, where kids can go for a ride with their favourite car, will start at 7:00pm.
Green flag times and final running order details will be confirmed at ScotiaSpeedWorld.ca
For fans, the takeaways are simple: short-track urgency from the opening heats, a last-chance B Feature with spots on the line, and a 75-lap finale that will reward pace, patience, and track position — with $1,800 awaiting the first car under the checkers.
