Truro man charged with stunting near Fall River

FALL RIVER: A 54-year-old Truro man has been charged after Halifax Regional Police caught him doing more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit on Nov. 4 near Fall River.

In a release, HRP said at approximately 6:45 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 118 inbound near the Fall River exit.

The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 152 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. 

A 54-year-old man from Truro was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

In addition, he was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle that he was driving was seized and towed.

The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
