Uniacke Fire ensures they’re ready when the tones sound

The following has been submitted by the Uniacke & District Volunteer Fire Department

MOUNT UNIACKE: Uniacke Fire has been participating in an online provincial 50/50 draw that supports fire departments since the early summer.

Our community members have been extremely supportive, and we have been able to raise quite a bit of funds as a result. This has been helpful especially since we had to cancel our annual Firefighter Fair in the spring to due Covid 19. The fair is our main fundraising event each year.

We recently spent just over $8,100 of our 50/50 profits on some medical items.

The department purchased first aid kits ($1103) for each firefighter to keep in their vehicle and three new Automated External Defibrillators ($7107) to replace some older units.

Mount Uniacke has quite a large fire district and many firefighters respond to emergencies using their personal vehicles.

The first aid kits could be used at a variety of different calls we respond to. The newer AEDs are compatible with units used by paramedics and are dispersed with firefighters at key geographic areas within the community.

We would like to thank community members for their continued support for the fire department.
