NINE MILE RIVER: A 33-year-old man from Upper Kennetcook has been charged with impaired driving after being caught with three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

He was being spotted swerving into oncoming traffic in Nine Mile River on Dec. 17.

East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said officers received a complaint of a small sedan that was spotted driving all over the road, including hitting the shoulder.

“Officers made an immediate patrol and located the vehicle,” said S/Sgt. Bushell. “Prior to conducting the stop, officers confirmed the caller’s observations.”

He said the vehicle was pulled over and upon contact with the driver, police quickly detected a high level of intoxication.

The driver, the 33-year-old male from Upper Kennetcook, was arrested and taken to the detachment.

“He provided samples of his breath over three times the legal limit,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

He said the man is scheduled to face the courts at a later date for charges of impaired driving.
