Vehicle destroyed in Hwy 102 fire near Shubenacadie

SHUBENACADIE: Highway 102 was shutdown for a brief period on Jan. 19 for a vehicle fire that sent firefighters from Milford and Shubenacadie and East Hants RCMP to the scene.

S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said officers were notified by 911 of the early morning vehicle fire near exit 10 Shubenacadie on Hwy 102.

“A motorist was travelling southbound when they started to smell something toxic and observed smoke emanating from behind the vehicle,” said S/Sgt. Bushell on Jan. 26. “The driver quickly pulled over.”

He local firefighters arrived on scene promptly and quickly doused the flames. However, the vehicle was destroyed.

Highway 102 southbound was closed for a brief period of time during the incident, said S/Sgt. Bushell.

The cause of the vehicle fire is not known.
