COLCHESTER COUNTY: A 28-year-old Onslow Mountain woman has been charged by Colchester County RCMP with multiple driving-related offences after receiving several reports of unsafe driving in Colchester and Pictou counties.
On August 18 at approximately 2:05 p.m., RCMP officers began receiving calls from the public about a possible impaired driver in the Londonderry area.
Officers learned that a white Honda CRV was weaving through traffic and passing vehicles unsafely.
When an officer located the CRV on Hwy. 104 near Londonderry and attempted a traffic stop, the driver continued eastbound on the highway.
Vehicle information was shared with Pictou County District RCMP.

When officers in Pictou County located the vehicle, the driver again refused to stop and evaded tire-deflation devices that officers deployed by officers.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., Nova Scotia RCMP dispatch received an automated 911 crash notification from a cell phone.
Colchester County District RCMP officers and other first responders attended the area, located on Jollytown Rd. near Upper Brookside Rd. in East Mountain. Officers found the CRV in the ditch.
A child who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash was transported to hospital by EHS and is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers observed signs of impairment. The driver failed roadside sobriety screening, testing positive for THC.

The driver, a 47-year-old Onslow Mountain woman, was safely arrested. She is charged with seven offences including Operation While Impaired by Alcohol or a Drug or by a Combination, Dangerous Operation (two counts), and Flight from Peace Officer (two counts).
To protect the privacy of the child involved, the woman’s name is not being released.
She had a first court appearance on August 19 at Truro Provincial Court.
A collision reconstructionist attended scene. Part of Jollytown Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
