FALL RIVER: A community is upset and disgusted after finding graffiti spray painted on its volunteer-run facility sometime overnight July 11.
Volunteers at the LWF Hall, located at 843 Fall River Road in Fall River, arrived on Wednesday morning to find vulgar and racist language and symbols painted in white on the back of the building.
Halifax District RCMP Cpl. Dal Hutchinson confirmed police responded to a complaint of damage to property at 19:30 a.m. on July 12. The investigation is ongoing.
“The graffiti consisted of spray painted symbols/racial slurs/and other inappropriate pictures,” said Cpl. Hutchinson.
That included words such as “Welcome 2 the Riv”, a drawing of a penis, a Nazi symbol, and the N-word.
Word of the graffiti painting to the facility, that hosts many community events and functions and is the heart of the Fall River and area community, has left many in disgust that someone or someone’s would stoop to this level. The graffiti was spray painted on the new siding that the volunteers had put on.
Some of the volunteers and users of the facility were left without words, as they already do many good things for the community on a shoe-string budget.
