MIDDLE SACKVILLE: Fire crews from multiple stations are battling a raging fire in a four-storey apartment building early Monday morning Sept. 15.
The fire had crews responding shortly after midnight to the reported structure fire on Hanwell Drive in Middle Sackville.
Halifax Professional Firefighters said upon arrival crews encountered heavy smoke and flames and quickly went offensive on the main body of fire.
RCMP officers are evacuating residents on Hanwell Drive, Middle Sackville.
An evacuation order for homes from civic numbers 25 through to 119 Hanwell Drive has now been lifted. All can return home except those at the apartment building that remains unsafe.
EHS is also responding and attending the call.

As a result of what the firefighters encountered, the incident was quickly upgraded to a Third Alarm structure fire with more units asked to respond.
The initial response for the structure fire was Station 10 (Sackville); Station 09 (Sackville); Station 04 (Halifax); Station 08 (Bedford); Station 11 (Sackville), Station 45 (Fall River); Station 12 (Dartmouth); and Station 21 (Lake Echo).
Halifax Professional Firefighters have been pulled from across the city and are working hard to mitigate the situation.
Firefighters remain on scene and will be there for an extended operation.
The public is asked to use caution and avoid the area if possible while crews continue their work.
