Elmsvale man charged after early morning stabbing in Shubenacadie

SHUBENACADIE: A 37-year-old Elmsvale man has been charged with assault with a weapon following an early morning stabbing that took place in Shubenacadie on Feb. 20.

Cpl. Lisa Croteau with N.S. RCMP said that at about 2 a.m., Colchester County RCMP responded to the stabbing call.

“Police located the victim, a 38-year-old man from Upper Stewiacke, at the hospital with non life-threatening injuries,” said Cpl. Croteau. “The investigation revealed that the altercation occurred between two people following an argument, while travelling in a vehicle on Hwy. 2.”

She said there were two other people in the vehicle at the time of the incident and no one else was injured.

“A short time later, the suspect was located at a home in Shubenacadie and was arrested without incident,” she said. “Both the victim and the suspect are known to each other.”

Cpl. Croteau said the suspect was later released from custody and is schedule to appear in Truro Provincial Court on April 28 to face a charge of Assault with a Weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
