FALL RIVER: A Fall River resident is asking for the community’s help to support the 250-plus firefighters battling the wildfires in Annapolis County.

On Thursday night at Lions Wing Night at the LWF Hall, Rob MacCormick will be on site collecting a laundry list of supplies to take with him when he heads down on Saturday to help prep and make supper for the firefighters at the old Cornwallis Base (now Sunset Tides).

He is looking for the following: Home made cookies, cakes, tarts, muffins, etc (will be accepted as long as the date they were baked is on the container).

Foods that are always needed daily:

Eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage, deli meats, chicken breasts, cheese slices for hearty packed lunches.

2 litre containers of chocolate milk

Foods that are needed this week:

Gluten free bread

Gluten free baked goods,

Special treats on an ongoing basis:

Liquid IV Electrolyte Mixes (Dropped into water bottles)

Bags of individually wrapped candies, mints, gum etc for them to grab and keep in their pockets.

MacCormick said the kitchen can always use large sandwich bags, small zip lock bags, food wrap, and masking tape.

These are needed as lunches are prepared and sent out to the teams working at the fire.

Because many of the firefighters and support workers are from other areas and only travel mainly with their gear, they could not bring many personal items, they can use the following:

Socks (very happy to get these), shampoo, Aloe Vera, foot powder, dental floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream, and other personal care items are also appreciated.

If you can, please drop these off at Wing Night at the LWF on Fall River Road for MacCormack and others to take with them when they go down Saturday.
