ENFIELD: A fatal two-vehicle collision that shutdown Highway 102 in Enfield for an extended period last month remains under investigation.

The collision on Aug. 24 saw a southbound GMC Sierra had crossed the median, becoming airborne, before it collided with the unexpecting northbound Honda CRV on the roadway.

The driver of the Honda CRV, a 51-year-old man from Quebec, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger, also from Quebec, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS LifeFlight.

The driver of the pickup, a 38-year-old man from South Carolina, was transported to hospital by EHS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Laker News inquired with RCMP in Lower Sackville for an update on the investigation on Sept. 9.

Spokeswoman Const. Mandy Edwards, with RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, said the collision remains an active investigation.

“Information continues to be gathered,” said Const. Edwards.

She was asked if there was a cause determiend or if charges were going to be laid.

Const. Edwards said she did not have an update to provide on the cause of the collision or charges yet.
