ENFIELD: East Hants RCMP responded to 88 calls for service between Nov. 23 and Nov. 30.

Below is a few of the highlighted calls as provided by East Hants S/Sgt. Cory Bushell. There are some cruiser briefs which will be shared individually as brief stories.

On November 24, East Hants RCMP kicked off the first snowy morning of the season with three calls of motor vehicle crashes. Weather was predictably the largest contributing factor.

East Hants RCMP wants to remind our motoring public to reduce speeds during inclement weather.

Snow tires are also effective at reducing the likelihood of loosing control of your vehicle while on icy or snowy roads.

East Hants RCMP received a report of a scam when one of our residents was victimized on Nov. 26.

The victim had received a call from a male stating he was with the anti crime unit of Royal Bank credit card services. He advised they detected some fraudulent activity on the victim’s credit card. He told the victim to buy Joker MasterCard’s and call him back.

The victim complied and purchased a number of cards. Upon calling the man back, the victim relinquished $500 in Joker MasterCard’s before realizing it was a swindle and hanging up.

Residents are reminded, no reputable company, extension of government or banking institution will ever call you unsolicited and ask you to provide money.

It is definitely a fraud if you are asked to buy gift cards, Bitcoin, money transfers (like Western Union) or any other means of money transfer that is not tracked by your banking institution in some way.

Police received a report of luggage falling off a vehicle on Hwy 102 in Elmsdale on Nov. 26.

The caller stated the luggage hit their car and was now a hazard on the highway. The matter was resolved between to two drivers.

Did you know it is an offense to allow items to fall from a vehicle travelling on a highway? Be it rocks, lumber, garbage or in this case luggage, the driver of the offending vehicle can be charged whether or not the act was intentional or accidental.

Please remember to always secure your load on a vehicle and never litter.
