ELMSDALE: Returning to where he allegedly committed an assault added an additional charge for a 43-year-old Lantz man.

East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said police were called on Nov. 20 to the Elmsdale area for a report of an assault.

“After officers arrived, they determined the suspect had left in a vehicle and they began efforts to locate him,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

He said they did find him a short time later.

“A member noticed the suspect’s vehicle drive past him,” he said. “The member followed the car, which returned back to the scene. “

After exiting the vehicle, the driver was immediately identified as the suspect for the assault.

“As members approached him, the suspect exhibited signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for impaired driving,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

He said the man was taken to the detachment where he provided samples of his breath which were nearly twice the legal limit.

S/Sgt. Bushell said the man was charged with impaired driving, assault, and failure to comply with a previously issued court order.  He will appear in court at a later date.
