FALL RIVER: Lockview High School’s student council is ramping up a busy fall season of events — all designed to boost school spirit and strengthen ties with the local community.
Grade 12 students Dallas Francis and Aili Pearcey said the excitement kicked off with the school’s Terry Fox Walk on October 15, which saw strong participation and generous donations.
“We had a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of donations, so we’re really proud about that,” said Pearcey.
Next up is a movie night on October 22, followed the next day by a leadership assembly for Grades 9 and 10 featuring guest speaker Jeff Gerber.

Then, on November 6, Lockview will hold its first pep rally in three years — something the student council is especially looking forward to.
“It’s about getting people involved, showing what student council does, and just bringing back that school spirit,” Francis said.
“We’ll have games, introduce sports teams and clubs, and get everyone excited again.”
To close out November, Lockview is hosting a Holiday Craft Fair on November 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school.
Tables cost $30 each, and vendors are invited to sell anything handmade or homemade — from crafts to baked goods.
Peracey said the idea behind the craft fair was to connect the school with the wider community.
“We wanted to get the community involved as much as we could,” she explained. “The holidays are a great time for that — it lets people come together and also gives local vendors a chance to benefit.”

Francis added that the student council hopes to make their efforts more visible this year.
“The community doesn’t always know what student council does behind the scenes,” he said.
“We want them to see that we’re here, we care about the students, and we want to support the community too.”
Vendor inquiries for the craft fair can be directed to JTasker@hrce.ca or PGoora@hrce.ca and a Google form will be posted on the school’s website.
