WELLINGTON: The woman involved in a home invasion on Christmas Eve in Wellington has been arrested and charged in the incident, Halifax District RCMP confirm on Feb. 26.

Cpl. Lisa Croteau told The Laker News the woman, a 23-year-old from Middle Musquodoboit, was arrested without incident on Feb. 11. The Laker News had inquired earlier this week on her arrest after being informed the fourth person involved was arrested by a reader from the community.

The woman is scheduled to appear to in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 24. She is facing the following charges:

  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearm
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
  • Robbery to Steal Firearm

The charges stem from an early morning home invasion near Oaken Hills. When police arrived, the suspects had fled the area.

Police said at the time their preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been at a home with two other people when three men and a woman forcibly entered the residence and repeatedly punched the male resident.

Belongings from the residence were taken by the suspects who then fled the area. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Later on Dec. 24, Joshua David Eye, 32, and Jeffrey Gordon Hilchie, 38, both of Wellington, were arrested without incident.

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Five counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
  • Five counts of Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
  • Robbery to Steal a Firearm
  • Assault

Cpl. Croteau said on Jan. 21, the third man involved, Thomas Joseph Lyle Brown, 32, of Enfield, turned himself into police after the RCMP issued a wanted person news release.

He is charged with:

  • Break and Enter to Steal a Firearm
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Five counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Five counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
  • Five counts of Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
  • Robbery to Steal a Firearm
  • Five counts of Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
  • Breach of Probation

The three men have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 11.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
