MIDDLE SACKVILLE: A Middle Sackville youth has been arrested after threats were made online of causing harm to students and staff at a school in the community.

RCMP say that on Sept. 2, at approximately 3 p.m. RCMP in Lower Sackville received a report a youth had made an online post threatening a school and its students and staff,.

Police say the youth posted a picture of themselves, on school property, holding a firearm, while making threats to harm staff and students. 

Through the investigation, officers learned the firearm was an airsoft gun. 

The 16-year-old of Middle Sackville was safely arrested at a home for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and was released on conditions.  They will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.

“Think before you post,” says Cst. Mandy Edwards, Public Information Officer with RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment. 

“A social media post intended to appear ‘cool’ could have lasting criminal consequences.”  

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment.
