FALL RIVER: A Fall River football player will be staying close to home when he hits the field in September.

In a Facebook post, the Dalhousie Tigers football team announced that Kye Swansburg has committed to the squad.

The six-foot, 160-pound Swansburg, a former Enfield resident who has called Fall River home for the past three years, is a wide receiver.

He plays with the Lockview High school football squad and has represented the province numerous times with Football Nova Scotia.

According to the post from the Tigers, Swansburg is a deemed a football veteran with 12 full seasons of tackle and flag football on his resume.

“I’m blessed for the opportunity, expect big things,” said Swansburg.

When he’s not at the football field or in school, he spends his time whipping up blizzards at Fall River Dairy Queen.

Swansburg will be taking his BSc in Human Kinetics at Dalhousie beginning this September.
