Ti-Cats resign Dragons football alum Jones

GRAND LAKE: A Fall River area native is going to be donning the black and gold of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the upcoming 2021 CFL season.

The Ti-Cats announced Feb. 10 they had resigned receiver Brian Jones, an alum of the Dragons football program in Fall River, to a one-year contract.

Jones, 26, returns to the team he had re-signed with on Feb. 11, 2020 after the 2019 season which saw him collect six special teams tackles in the nine regular season games. He had also suited for the teams two playoff games and appearance in the Grey Cup.

He has appeared in 43 career games between three teams, the Toronto Argonauts (2016-2018); Saskatchewan Roughriders (2018); and Ti-Cats (2019). He has picked up 14 receptions for 148 yards and one receiving touchdown.

Jones, an Acadia University grad who was part of the Argos Grey Cup winning team in 2017, has contributed on special teams throughout his career, recording 18 special teams’ tackles, one blocked punt, and three kickoff returns for 15 yards.
