Theft of lumber in Nine Mile River being investigated

NINE MILE RIVER: The theft of more than $10,000 in lumber from a construction site in Nine Mile River is under investigation by East Hants RCMP.

S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said the theft occurred some time in the past week and consisted of a full lift of plywood, a lift of flooring, and full lift of 2×4’s.

“As the price of building materials has skyrocketed, residents are strongly reminded to take care to secure building materials at retail sites and job sites for renovation or new building construction,” he said.

He said residents should keep materials under lock and key; Ensure access routes and or the location where materials are stored is well lit. 

“Reports any suspicions activity around building materials to police immediately,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.
