LOWER SACKVILLE: A 55-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges relating to an incident that began on Hwy 102 near Goffs on Aug. 1.
Cpl. Lisa Croteau, spokeswoman with Halifax District RCMP, said police received a driving complaint at about 7:50 p.m. from a caller who said a vehicle was driving recklessly in the southbound lane.
“A truck towing a trailer was swerving on the road and almost caused several collisions,” said Cpl. Croteau.
She said a member of the Southeast Traffic Services located the truck and attempted to pull it over. At exit 4C, the driver lost control of the truck and trailer and both flipped on their sides.
“The driver and lone occupant showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving,” said Cpl. Croteau. “The driver was not injured.
She said the driver, a 55-year-old man from HRM, was transported to the Sackville RCMP Detachment to provide breath samples. He was later released and is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Refusal of the Breath Demand.
The man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on October 7.
