FALL RIVER: A 38-year-old Cole Harbour man has been charged for stunting after a Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit member observed the vehicle he was driving going more than 50 km/h over the speed limit outbound on Hwy 118, near Exit 14 Fall River/Waverley.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 28, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 118 outbound before Exit 14. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 166 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
A 38-year-old man from Cole Harbour was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.
In addition, he was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle that he was driving was seized and towed.The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on speed enforcement.
“We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe,” the HRP release said. “If you see someone driving dangerously, report it to police by calling 911.”
