FALL RIVER/EAST HANTS: The province is writing off $15.7 million in debts considered uncollectable as of March 31.

“Write-offs are a part of doing business for both the private and public sectors,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister Labi Kousoulis. “These transactions originated in previous years and do not have an impact on the province’s 2020-21 fiscal position.”

Total write-offs for 2020-21 are $15.7 million, mainly due to uncollectable ambulance and licencing fees at Health and Wellness and various uncollectable fines at the Department of Justice.

A list of all departmental write-offs is available at: https://beta.novascotia.ca/documents/summary-departmental-write-offs-2020-2021
