FALL RIVER: It was an electric atmosphere on Sunday afternoon as the Lockview High Dragons football team took on Millwood Knights in the first game played at the new Turf Field in Fall River.

The Dragons started the Blizzard Bowl game running onto the field with players from the Fall River Dragons Minor football association behind them and smoke filling the air from the huddle at the center, and the roar of the crowd cheering them on.

From the first kick to start the game, sponsored by Dairy Queen Fall River, the Dragons were not about to disappoint the large crowd on hand, many with faces painted or Lockview High colours, white t-shirts on for the white out game, and many supportive messages written on bristol board.

The Dragons led 25-0 at halftime and ended the game adding two more touchdowns for a 39-0 victory when the game referee’s final whistle sounded.

Three extra points were also recorded by Potter.

Quarterback Ryland Wall threw for three of the touchdowns.

The fieldhouse and Indigenous space are yet to be constructed at the field. Once those are complete an official grand opening will take place.

Lockview will play their next home game Oct. 12 also at the field, and then word is it will be open to the community and other LHS teams for booking thru HRM.
