ENFIELD: East Hants RCMP responded to 79 calls for service between April 13 and April 20.

Here is the report for the week, as provided by S/Sgt. Cory Bushell.

On April 19, a report was received of a break-and-enter into a new home build in Nine Mile River.

Someone had broken the door on a new construction but found no materials or tools inside to steal.

If anyone have information about this or any other matter regarding building material theft, please contact East Hants RCMP at 902-883-7077 or Crime Stoppers.

Police received a report from a Selma resident on April 19 of an attempted fraud on Facebook.  The victim was contacted on Facebook by someone pretending to be a known friend.

It was only after the suspect was asking several personal questions did the victim realize it was an attempted scam. The public is reminded, never to divulge any personal information online or on the phone.

A tip to live by:  If YOU did not initiate the contact, (by phone, email, social media, your doorstep, etc.), NEVER answer any question which includes a number. For example: birthdate, address, banking or credit information, number of persons living in your home, how many loads of laundry a week, annual income, etc.

If the question requires you to answer with a number – refuse.

Why would the number of loads of laundry a week matter?  The answer may reveal you are living alone.  Annual income may reveal you have expensive things.

If you would not want a stranger knowing that, never answer such questions.
