LANTZ: The East Hants Bitar’s Ristorante Penguins picked up a pair of home ice weekend wins in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League play.
On home ice at the Keith Miller Arena, the Pens defeated the Windsor Oxen 4-3 and then the Brookfield Elks 6-3.
Against the Oxen on Friday night, Aiden Nicholson scored twice including the game winner late in the third period to lead the Pens. Noah Comeau and Alex Field scored the other tallies.
Assists went to Thomas Panopalis with a pair, while single helpers were credited to Field; Finley Diab; and Bryce Stewart.
Payson Stewart turned away 28 of 31 shots he faced in goal for the victory.

Against the Elks, the Pens and Elks exploded for five goals in the opening period with East Hants coming out with a 3-2 lead before going on to the 6-3 victory.
Thomas Panopalis scored twice and assisted on another to power the Pens offence.
Alex Field, Braedy Kirton, Noah Stokes; and Jayson Hanson each turned the red light on with single goals.
Chris Caissie chipped in with pair of assists.
Single helpers went to Nick Morin; Field; Kirton; Jacob Sanford; Chris Brill; Jake O’Connor; Stokes; and Nik Xidos.
Fintan Boudreau stopped 33 of 36 pucks sent his way for the goaltending win.
East Hants is back in action on Friday night when they host rivals the Sackville Blazers to the Igloo at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
