Positive COVID19 test confirmed at Elmsdale Scotiabank

ELMSDALE: The Elmsdale Scotiabank is closed temporarily because an employee has tested positive for COVID19, a spokesman with the bank confirmed in a statement.

News of the positive COVID19 started to spread like wildfire on local community FB pages as rumour and speculation.

The Laker News had contacted NSHA Public Health in the morning to ascertain the validity of the posts rumours, but were only told “Details about locations and circumstances of identified cases are only provided publicly if Public Health determines there is a need to do so for contact tracing or other public health reasons.”

In the e-mailed statement, Scotiabank confirmed they will be closed for the time being. A sign on the branch’s doors indicated Nov. 23 they would be closed until Nov. 26, but it was unclear if this date of possible re-opening remains.

“The health and safety of our employees and customers is our top priority,” said Doug Johnson in the statement said. “We have temporarily closed our branch at the Elmsdale Shopping Centre as one of our employees has tested positive for COVID-19.  

“Under guidance from public health officials, the branch is undergoing a deep cleaning and will remain closed until it is safe to re-open. Scotiabank continues to cooperate with local health authorities as needed.”
