LANTZ: If Friday’s night pre-season Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League game is any indication, the East Hants Senior A Penguins are going to be a success – on and off the ice.
Even without five key players for the exhibition game against the Cape Breton West Knights, the Penguins dominated offensively en route to an 11-2 victory.
Off the ice, the crowds came out to the Keith Miller Arena in excess of approximately 1,200 fans (estimated by an employee) to cheer on the Pens and see what the team and league is all about.
If the Pens keep up their on-ice product, the off-ice support will be there in strides during the inaugural season at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz.
East Hants will start the regular season on the road against Truro Bearcats on Saturday night at Colchester Legion Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Pens will hold their season opener on Nov. 1 at the Keith Miller Arena in the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz with a 7:30 p.m. start.
