Dillman, Christensen, Noble among winners
SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD: With a maximum 250 fans in the grandstands at Scotia Speedworld on Friday night, Aug. 28, the stars of the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series entertained with a great night of racing action that saw several East Hants racers head to victory lane (in unofficial race results).
As the season is short, race officials have combined several classes making the race night a quicker then usual one, and on this night from green flag in the heat races to the final checkered flag in the Sportsman feature took just under three hours to complete (2:45 to be exact).
In the Beginner Bandolero race it was the 97 of Daniel Vandenberg taking the heat race and feature checkered flags.
In the feature, Chase Livingstone in the no. 39 and Brett Pashkoski of Beaver Bank, in the no. 45 rounded out the top three.
Danny Chisholm raced to the win in the Bandolero division (he is an Outlaw division driver) ahead of Nathan Langille in the 3 and Brooke Dowe in the 22.
Dawson Noble in the no. 8 of Nine Mile River and Emily Chisholm in the 89 were top five.
For the Bandits, the level above Beginner, it was Windsor Junction’s Ayden Christensen taking the wins in the heat race and feature. The 88 of Caden Tufts was second, as the only other Bandit division racer.
For the Outlaw and Bandit bandoleros they race together in heat and Feature races.
Sam Rogers, driving the no. 51 Legend car of Braden Langille, raced away from the field en route to the victory in the Legend race feature. Devin Wadden won the heat race in the no. 20.
Dawson Noble of Nine Mile River brought home the no. 03 Legend in fifth place. While overall it was fifth, for the Young Lion division it resulted in a win.
In this race for the Young Lions, Enfield’s Gage Gilby made an appearance and showed he has the skill and impressed race officials in the tower, especially Twitter Guy. He stayed at the back for the most part, stayed out of the leader’s way, and garnered valuable seat time behind a powerful Legend machine.
The no. 158 of Jamie Dillman of Carroll’s Corner came home second in the TOURSEC Thunder/Lightning combined division feature, but he was the first Lightning car to cross. Dave Matthews of Nine Mile River was first overall to win the race and the top thunder car.
Tyler Hallahan of Elmsdale in the 133 was the heat race 2 victor for the Lightning, while it was Greg McKay in Thunder.
Matthews and Dillman were the heat race one winners.
Fall River’s Steve Matthews piloted the no. 198 to the third-place finish for the Lightning in the feature, while Marshall Bezanson of Oldham brought home the no. 106 in fifth place overall.
For the Sportsman, Pete Miller of East Gore and Wayne Miller were the heat race winners, while Alex Johnson in the no. 14 of Oakfield was third in heat one.
Wayne Miller of Kennetcook just beat Darren Hilchie to the checkers in heat race two.
In the feature, it was Deven Smith grabbing the win, while it was Wayne Miller second and Pete Miller third.
Adam Carter of Lantz was fifth in the no. 24.
