WINDSOR JUNCTION: Coaching makes all the difference, and for Jill Langille that was a big factor in her decision to announce she would be joining the UNB Reds track and field team beginning in September.
Langille, of Windsor Junction, is in her final year at Lockview High in Fall River. In a release issued by the Reds, she credits UNB coach Chris Belof with why she chose the Fredericton, N.B.-based university over others that had drawn her attention.
“Chris (Belof) was a big factor in me making my decision,” said Langille, 17. “I also got to meet, virtually, some of the girls and I knew right away that UNB was where I wanted to be.”
On the outdoor tracks, Langille participates in 100 and 200 metres, and competes in the 4-by-100-metre relay. Indoors, Langille runs the 60 and 300 metres, and the 4-by-200-metre relay.

At the 2019 Nova Scotia high school track and field championships, Langille led Lockview to the gold medal and a new provincial record in the intermediate girls 4-by-100-metre relay.
Belof said Langille, who will pursue a Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Studies at UNB, will be a great addition to the Reds.
“She’s a national calibre multi-sport athlete who has a high ceiling and plenty of room to grow with our coaching staff,” he said.
