COVID-19 exposure at Lockview High, WMES being investigated

WAVERLEY/FALL RIVER: Public Health is investigating an exposure of COVID-19 at both Waverley Memorial Elementary School and Lockview High.

The exposure at WMES is to have occurred on Dec. 7 and/or Dec. 8

In letters home to families of students at WMES, the principal said Public Health is now working to identify and notify students and staff who may have been exposed as a close contact. If you are not contacted by Public Health, you are not considered a close contact.

In an update on its Facebook page, all close contacts have been identified and notified by email.

“If you haven’t received an email then you are not considered close contacts at this time,” the update on the parents FB page for WMES said.

At Lockview High, the letter home from the principal said the exposure is said to have occurred on Dec. 8 at LHS.

Public Health is now working to identify and notify students and staff who may have been exposed as a close contact.

If you are not contacted by Public Health, you are not considered a close contact.

Public Health is confident the school remains a safe place for students and staff, and our school will remain open. If needed, Public Health will recommend additional enhanced measures.

“We will notify families if this happens,” the letter said.

At this time, continue to review the COVID-19 Daily Checklist each day to closely monitor your health and the health of those you care for.

The letter from WMES concluded with this:

“We understand you may feel anxious over the coming days. It is natural to want to know if your child may have been exposed to the virus.

“Public Health officials will inform those who are at risk of the next steps, but to protect the privacy of students and staff, other details including names, will not be released.”
