Driver asks police for drive during height of blizzard

EAST HANTS: A stranded motorist thought calling 911 for a lift into Dartmouth during the height of the snowstorm on Feb. 8 was a good idea.

S/Sgt. Cory Bushell, with East Hants RCMP, said early on the morning, a 911 call was received by RCMP in Enfield. It was from a motorist who said he was stuck in a service station parking lot.

“The driver, who was safe and warm inside the 24-hour service station, stated he wanted police to brave the storm and head out on treacherous roads to pick him up,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

“He stated he wanted a lift to Dartmouth and CAA had refused.”

The police also had bad news for the motorist.

“We also politely declined,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.
